Elegant florals for your tête-à-tête dinner


This simple centrepiece is easy to put together for just about anyone.

Start with a stem of Cymbidium Orchids (they come in yellow, orange, white or pink), cut each orchid off the stem app 1.5 inches away from the flower. You will be left with between 9 and 12 cymbidium orchids, each with a 1.5 inch stem.

Take simple greenery (preferably something fresh and spring like) and cut down to 4 inch stems. You will need about 20 stems.

Pick a vase with a wide open top to create a spray effect with the greenery and florals. Ikea has one called the Flagan (as shown in the picture to the left) which costs only $8.

Create a first layer of greenery coming out of the vase, then fill the centre with orchids and voilà ... a simple and elegant valentine's day centrepiece.
