Holiday Table Design Ideas

While glitz and glam work well during the holidays, there are other options for table top decor. Eatertainment has designed fun holiday table ideas that may already be in your backyard or household cupboards.  Not only are they eco-friendly but they are simple enough to get the kids involved... all without causing too much of a mess.

Take some time to explore the great outdoors and your closets, you may be surprised by what you can find that will add that little extra to your next dinner party.

  - A winter scarf works well as a table runner against  a white or neutral coloured linen

 - Use natural elements, such as pinecones for place card holders or place fallen evergreen boughs throughout your home. They will will create a holiday feel and provide that 'Christmas scent'.

 - Beeswax candles are 100% natural and they clean the air as they give off a warm glow. Use espresso cups as a convenient votive holder on your table this year.

As for the eternal question of 'what does one do with all the Christmas cards once Christmas is over...?' Save them! Old cards are put to good use as the  backdrops for all your holiday dinner menus. This is where the kids can get involved too. Using the backside of the card cover, neatly print your chosen dinner menu and let the kids do all the decorating.

If at the end of the day the glitz and glam is what you are after, our suggestion to you is to keep it simple, use blacks, reds and silvers to create a trendy table top. Different events require different decor and that is what keeps the holidays exciting - a new look for every menu.

Whatever look you choose, the most important part of entertaining is that you enjoy the time with your family and friends. Happy Holidays!
